Mondays, 6 - 9pm, February 1 – April 5, 2010. Learn the exciting processes of printing in color through mezzotint with Chicago-based artist, Connie Wolfe. In this course, you will specifically learn how to print reductive and multi-plate color prints using mezzotint as your starting point. Preparing mezzotint plates and using secondary tonal processes such as aquatint will be covered in this class. Students will learn how to mix color inks, how to transfer key plates to additional plates, how to print multiple colors, and how colors can work together to make visually dynamic images. Additionally, students will learn how to edition, how to prepare paper, and how to sign prints. This class is open to all skill levels, so previous mezzotint knowledge is not necessary. Class size is limited to 8 individuals. This class costs $300 including all materials except for paper and plates. 3” x 4” plates will be available on the first day of class. Open Studio time for the duration of the class is available for a $2 materials fee per visit. Call 312-369-6864 to register.
