Empathetic Robot

Robo Sapien: Agent 1

Fiber artist Kathy Weaver’s exhibit, Empathetic Robot, opened at the Health in the Arts Clinic Gallery, UIC on January 12,2010.  Her work explores aspects of science and technology through the use of fantastic robot imagery.  Robot portraits (Robo Sapien: Agent Series), brightly airbrushed figures on Naugahyde), show fear, anxiety, surprise or isolation.  In her series, The War Between the Robots and the Dirigibles, robots fight wars with dirigibles in strange and lushly colored landscapes. Other work depicts robots in various settings and narratives.
