‘Drawing the Line’ on Exhibit at BAC Through March 6
Opening Reception for National Show is Sun., Feb. 14

(CHICAGO, Feb. 4, 2010) -- “Drawing the Line,” an exhibit of 32 works by 25 members of the Jewish Women Artists’ Network (JWAN), sub-caucus of the WCA , is on exhibit Feb. 5 through Mar. 6 at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St. (111th Street south on Western Ave.), Chicago. The opening reception will be held Sun., Feb. 14, 2 – 4  PM . The reception and admission to the gallery are free. Gallery hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mon. through Sat., 1 to 5 p.m. Sun.
Sarah Giller Nelson, Art Historian, Chicago, IL juried the exhibit. The works, on exhibit in the East Gallery, explore the theme of “drawing the line” in traditional and new media using literal, figurative and conceptual interpretations.
“Line denotes order, makes distinctions, determines limits and boundaries and limitations and risks,” wrote Fay Grajower, co-chair of JWAN National Exhibitions. “This exhibit examines some of these possibilities as each artist renders her own interpretation . . . and challenges both the artist and the viewer to question their lines.”

Romoff, Los Angeles,Cal; Patricia Elliott Schappler, Bedford, NH; Debbie Schore, Teaneck, NJ; Beth Shadur, Highland Park, Ill.; Lorre Ann Slaw, Northbrook, Ill.; Simone Soltan, Chapel Hill, NC; Karen K. The Jewish Women Artists’ Network was founded by Jewish women artists at the 1991 National Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA) conference in Washington, DC as a forum within the larger art community. With a national membership, it is the only organization of professional Jewish women artists in the United States. The group exhibits at WCA national conferences, and has presented public programs and participated on panels at the conferences.  
The Women’s Caucus for Art was established in 1972and offers opportunities for women artists, art historians and educators to create and exhibit their work, to meet and exchange ideas, and to promote women’s greater participation in the art world.
