Gallery Talk: James Mesplé

James Mesplé will discuss the role mythology in his work. He has long used mythology and ancient myths in his figurative paintings creating portals into enchanted and magical landscapes for the viewer to experience.
Apart from mythology, Mesplé’s work reflects on his childhood and life experiences. He has two works displayed in the Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery’s Pathways and Portals exhibition. The first, The Elixir of Love, reflects on his childhood memories while the other, Flora, is about the renewal of life with the change of the seasons. The work is created with a combination of egg tempera and oil on canvas.
This event is free to the public. All ages are welcome. The Gallery is wheel-chair accessible.
