Exhibition is at the Humboldt Park Boathouse, 1359 N. Sacramento in Chicago, August 11 through October 29, 2010. Gallery hours: Friday 6-8pm and Saturday 1-4pm. August 11th opens with SummerDance at Humboldt Park.
Repeating images of iconic Park views and individual photographs reflect the richness and diversity of a life cycle in the Park.
Events include:
SummerDance at the Boathouse, Wednesday, August 11th- Citywide Opening
Artist Opening, Friday, August 13th, 6-8pm.
Janine Fron will lead rounds of
playing Prairie Prose with visitors to the gallery. The locally made green game was inspired by
Jens Jensen and Prairie School History in which players create poems from
nature, Saturday, September 4th, 1pm.
Presentation of his report, Birds of Humboldt Park, by Sam Burckhardt,
including the birds he and others have encountered in the Park, survey
of breeding birds, and the significance of the park for migrating and
resident birds. Afterward, we will move to the terrace overlooking the
Lagoon and see what birds can be seen from there. Please, bring your
binoculars if you have a pair. Saturday September 4th, 3pm.
150th Birthday Party for Jens Jensen, with readings from Siftings by Charles Richards, Wednesday, September 15th, 6pm
Bus Tour for Jens Jensen's 150th Birthday by Julia Bachrach,
CPD Historian, Saturdays, August 28 and September 25, 10am-3pm. Meet
at Grant Park on upper Randolph Street. $30 includes lunch and bus.

Edward Torrez, AIA of Bauer Latoza Studios, presents "The Boathouse Restoration" and Julia Bachrach, Historian, Chicago Park District, presents "Humboldt Park: Jens Jensen's Living Laboratory," Wednesday, September 29, 6pm.
Chicago Artist's Month Opening Friday, October 1, 5-8pm
Naturalist and Landscape Design walking tour by Julie Siegel, Saturday, October 2, 1pm. Jens Jensen pioneered the use of native plants in
parks ~100 years ago. In celebration of his innovations, Julie's walk will be
about native plants, their habitats and habits, and using this information in
planning their integration into the home garden.
Reading of her original poetry about Humboldt Park, by Erika Mikkalo, Friday, October 8, 7pm.
Curator's Discussion with Candice Martens, Saturday, October 16, 1pm
